Only heroes need apply...
Are you a hero? Do you want to be one? I was recently contacted by an on-line friend with a plea for help. I’m passing on this plea to you.
There is a pair of New York Shelties who are caught in the middle of hard times. Without going into details, their owner can no longer care for this lovely pair of 7 year olds. They have spent their whole lives together and it would make these hard times so much easier if she knew Bailey and Sky could stay together.
Here is what their owner writes about them:
Bailey gets along well with cats (Tri boy) but Sky (Blue Merle girl) does not. I do have one cat which Bailey plays with but Sky annoys.
They are both housebroken and walk well on a leash; however, Bailey does pull a little. To be very honest with you, they are not on a leash often. When I walk them to go potty, I always go outside with them and I do not use a leash. I do not have a fenced yard therefore they cannot be left alone outside.
Sky likes everyone, both men and women. She is friendly. Bailey on the other hand is a little more choosey as to who is likes and dislikes. He really is not fond of men and I have no idea why. We acquired him as a puppy and to my knowledge, nothing has ever happened to him to make him dislike men. But then again, he is choosey as to who he likes, be it men or women. He is a little more stand offish but does warm up and is friendly.
They both seem to like children. I have a niece and nephew (ages 6 & 8) who they have been around and there were no problems.
If you are interested, please email me at thesheltieshop@comcast.net. This adoption will take place with the assistance of the Hudson Valley Shetland Sheepdog Rescue Humane Society of Monroe (NY).
This plea is being posted on August 11, 2008. We would like you to consider it carefully and respond quickly so that we can keep as much of this family together as possible.
